a resolve or determination: to make a firm resolution to do something.

the act of resolving or determining upon an action or course of action, method, procedure, etc. It seems so, well, so firm. I tend to not always keep my resolutions. So, I am going to set an intention this year to be healthier. It is not that I want to give myself an out, I really don't. Call me a wimp, I just respond better to niceness then firmness. When I was in high school and ran track I preformed much better for my coach that was very encouraging and complimentary, than I did for my senior year coach- also a football coach- that just yelled a lot. Some people respond to that I know. Not me, I love a good encouraging compliment and I will want to please. I think if I were on the show biggest loser I would rather have Bob than Jillian. She scares me. So regular work-outs and a little less chocolate here I come. Wish me well. I like it :)

I hope this final newsletter of the year, finds you well! The holiday season seems to be in full swing. It can be busy but also very fun. It is a nice time of year to take stock of what is important to us and find gratitude. Holidays are also a great time to just be with the people we love and appreciate them warts and all. Ok, I just saw Princess and the Frog today. (with three toddlers- it went really well- no, really, it did)

 

December is a month of important Birthdays: Christ, my daughter Anna, and Swami Baby.( www.swamibabyboutique.com ) 

 

Thanks to all who helped celebrate the Swami 2 year bash! It was a fun night, and we were able to help raise money to go toward the building of a birth center in Uganda!!

don't take heat .................for granted.....

A few years ago, my husband and I lived in california. We lived not too far from the ocean. I drove by it on my way to and from everyday. Granted, in those days I was not as mindful as I try to be now, but I took it for granted. My husband never did. He was better at living in the moment than I was then. He tried to watch the sunset as often as he could from our third floor patio. I have to say that If I had it to do it all over, I would slow down and smell the roses.

However, I can honestly say that EVERY single time I come in my nice warm house from the cold I appreciate it. I do not take for granted that I have a warm cozy house on such a cold winter night. We here in MN will be going below zero tonight. My heart goes out to those who have no place to sleep tonight. In this time of giving, see what we can do for them.

(truth be told, I don't have a fireplace- it is symbolic. I just think blogs are more fun with pictures)

returned today from a fun trip to sunny fl with some girlfriends! we had dinner on the beach, went kayaking, swimming, shopping, to the movies, had a lot of laughs, got a little sun, were able to sleep in (although going to bed very late didn't help) and remembered to slow down a little and realx more. also realized, again, how nice great friends are!!
